The building is aligned with Boulevard Berwart, which provides a new access route to Esch-sur-Alzette town centre. It is one of many new projects recently completed, such as the footbridge to the park, the redevelopment of Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, the bus station, the Marco Polo housing development and the new Justice de Paix building. Such a privileged location, in a booming city, calls for a strong identity in terms of the building’s architectural expression.
This mixed-use building with residential and commercial units over six levels is located in a dense, continuous row of buildings on J. F. Kennedy Boulevard.
The buildings in this row are characterised by their strict horizontal lines. The Green Code Residence continues this linearity but breaks the rigour with its curved façade, which creates internal loggias or projecting bay windows. These fluid movements in the façade create a sparkling effect and give it a beautiful sheen. Horizontal green bands structure the façade. Interior spaces open to the full storey height and are extended by filigree balconies, bordered by green balustrades symbolising the city’s renewal.
